Message from Adira!

“Hello everyone!
Thank you for a successful meeting on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Kenneth Chaffee’s Celebration of Life is Saturday Oct. 18, 2025, at
5:00 p.m.
We will have our next General Meeting & Potluck the following week on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, in the Men’s Latihan hall at 12:30 p.m.
I’m asking each of you to adhere to the following rules of decorum during our meetings.
Keep in mind that at the Sept. 28th meeting, I was challenged to recognize each person in the correct order, due to my left eye shield. I regret if, at times, I did not call on you in the right order. Nonetheless, please read and follow these rules of decorum. I ask that each of you be patient with one another before, during and after our meetings.
Thank you,
Adira”

Elderberry Message!

Dear Brothers and sisters

May God’s peace and grace always attend

There are very long-time members that are or were in the PNW that we likely have lost track of over the last several years. So, Elderberry has a large need for an Elderberry Rep. for the region.  We pray those who came before us are getting along ok. Please consider this position or just helping with information about a Subud elder that you have concerns about or lost track of.

Your Brother

David McCormack

General Meeting After Latihan, this Sunday

General Meeting After Latihan, this Sunday,
August 24th at 1230 pm.
Topic: Bug Busters Unite. Potluck.
We will meet downstairs in the men’s Latihan hall following Latihan.
No one can enter Spring Street Center right now. This includes this coming Sunday.
This means the women cannot use the bathroom that we normally use- off the kitchen. If any women need a bathroom before, during or after Latihan, they can walk downstairs to use the bathroom adjacent to the laundry room.
During the general meeting, men and women can use the bathroom next to the laundry room or the bathroom in the men’s Latihan hall.

Operation Bye-Bye Bugs:   Help Us Evict Some Very Unwelcome Guests!

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Subud,

We never thought we’d say this, but… we have guests at our center.  Uninvited, unwelcome, and undeniably itchy guests. Yes, friends — we’ve got bed bugs.

Now before you scratch yourself just from reading that, rest assured: we’re taking immediate action. But like any good eviction process, it takes professionals, patience, and unfortunately — piles of money.

We’re calling this:
Operation Bye-Bye Bugs: A Pledge for Peaceful Sleep.

We’re humbly and humorously asking you to pledge whatever you can toward our emergency bed bug treatment fund. Whether it’s $10, $50, or whatever you’d spend on a bottle of super-strong anti-itch cream — it all helps!  Our aim is to raise $5000 so that we can apply for a Matching Grant from the Regional House Fund.

We will be asking the Region for a $5000 Matching Grant to help us towards this VERY expensive task.  The costs easily total $10,000.  They include $922.53 to make sure the Subud side does not have bugs. (Yay – Report just in – No bugs doing Latihan!)   It will cost $7,427.66 to clean the rental side of bugs.  Other costs include protective covers for beds.

Subud Greater Seattle has just enough money to cover this expense, but then we will have very little left over.  We are facing loss of rental income as well in the 2 week mitigation period.

Your donation will go toward:

  • Professional bed bug extermination (because fire isn’t an option)
  • Safe treatment of furniture and spaces
  • Restoring sanity to staff, volunteers, and anyone who’s been sleeping with one eye open

Let’s be honest — no one wants to deal with bed bugs. But with your help, we can make sure this infestation is short-lived and never returns for a sequel.

Checks, Cash, or donate online using the “Make a Deposit” option at https://www.subudgreaterseattle.com/donate/

Thank you for your support, your laughter, and your generosity. We promise not to bug you too often.

With itchy gratitude,

Your Committee – Sarah and Adira
