Early notice about Crescent Beach – Subud Family Gathering (June 19 to 21)

BIG HUG to our brothers and sisters in the US!
This is a very early notice that this year’s Crescent Beach Family Gathering (just south of Vancouver and close to the Washington border) will be taking place on the weekend of June 19 to 21.
Further information and full registration details will be sent out in the coming weeks, but please mark the dates in your calendar.
The gathering will largely follow the popular format of previous years and we would love to welcome any brothers & sisters from south of the border who are able to register for all or part of the gathering.
It’s been too long!!! ❤️
I hope you can help to spread the word – thank you!
If you have any questions, please get in touch with me.

Quotes from Bapak for Ramadan

14 For that reason, always do your latihan, so that soon you may encounter the various powers that have gathered in your feelings and be able to tell one from another.

17 So, it is best to do your training patiently, even though you make progress only little by little. The main thing for you is to experience its reality, so that you may develop in the best way.

Rosanna Hille has passed!

Rosanna Sonia Hille  13 June 1945 — 6 March 2026
Writer, Artist, Gardener, Chair of SDIA.

It is with deep sadness and profound gratitude that we share the passing of Rosanna Hille, who left this world peacefully on the evening of 6 March 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on 13 June 1945, Rosanna lived a life of extraordinary breadth and quiet purpose. In the words of her daughter, Veda: “She was a writer, an artist, a gardener, a devoted mother, and the beloved matriarch of a wide-ranging family.”

To those of us in the Subud community and at Susila Dharma International Association, she was also a founding force — the elected Chair and first Executive Director of SDIA, who shaped the organization with wisdom, vision, and tireless dedication for over a decade.

In her years of illness, Rosanna met each day with the same grace and spiritual surrender that had guided her throughout her life. Her passing is a great loss, and her legacy is a great gift.

A gathering in her name will be held by her family in Vancouver and will be available online. Details to follow.

We extend our deepest love and condolences to her children and all her family and to all who had the privilege of knowing her

Notes from your Chair

Let’s Adopt a Susila Dharma Project

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

One of the ideas that came out of the SD-USA board meeting that I attended 2/19-22 was for each Subud center to “adopt” a project.  SD-USA is currently supporting 17 projects along with our dues to SDIA which supports an even broader group of projects world-wide.

I like this idea and wondered if there was anyone else in the group that would like to look at the many projects SD-USA supports and see if there’s 1-2 that they might suggest at our next group meeting on March 22nd for consideration.  We’d then vote on the one the group wanted to support and start supporting it.

As an example, the Washington DC group picked Bina Cita Utama (BCU), the Subud School in Kalimantan. The reason they chose this project was that Myriam Ramsey – a former SD-USA board member – championed that project.  The group was already giving a monthly donation to SD-USA to support its work. They decided to donate additionally to support BCU.

Anyone interested in being a part of this process of selecting a project for our center, just needs to contact me and I’ll coordinate a selection process via email.

Thanks, Oswald
