Andre Allen Selected to lead a workshop to help us think about the future of our group in 2027

At last Sunday’s meeting the Housing Committee presented its recommendation that the group bring Andre Allen to our Seattle Center in the first quarter of 2027 to lead us in a workshop whose topic currently is exploring the needs and options for our group into the future.

A vote was taken and the group unanimously approved Andre to be our facilitator. We also thanked Halimah Bellows for her offer to be our facilitator.

Facilitator for Subud Greater Seattle Visioning Exercise

 Background – Professional Experience
Before my family and I moved to Oregon from the SF Bay area in 1980, I worked for an education consulting company that provided teacher in-service training in a program that my partner and I developed called “Tribes.” We trained elementary school teachers to form small groups of students that enabled them to develop self-esteem, self-direction and positive peer influence. I also conducted problem-solving sessions with those teachers that helped them deal effectively with classroom management and social climate issues.

After relocating to Oregon, I worked for the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division as a mediator. In that position I mediated disputes between injured workers and workers compensation insurers, wrote administrative orders, and trained vocational rehabilitation counselors. I did that for 23 years.

After I retired in 2013, I began mediating small claims lawsuits for the Jackson County District Court on a volunteer basis.

I have a master’s degree from the University of California and training in Transactional Analysis and group treatment. I received my mediation training at the Willamette University School of Law.

Andre’s Thoughts About the Exercise
He said that the process he would create would:
– Involve everybody as a whole
– Work on consensus building using small groups
– Would be fun and actively involve our members in the process.
